Surprisingly the concepts I learnt in the book helped me with my IB interviews (at places such as Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley) as once they establish the basics (ie you can do DCF and understand undergraduate finance 101) they quickly move to... The book then gives you a large number of practice questions (most of them are `allegedly’ based on real interviews), shows the implementation of those frameworks in candidate answers and then critiques those answers. After reading this book I interviewed with both Bain and McKinsey (for AC and BA positions) as well as with a number of investment banks. (E) have an impressive enough CV to get an interview. What Interviewers Notice in a Consulting Case Interview
They didnt pass the case interview test so-to-speak, but they did tend to pass the airplane test — as in do I want to sit next to this person on an airplane every week for three hours. Now if someone did really well on the case, but the seemed miserable, I would probably notice it, wonder about it, but still pass them to the next round just to make sure it wasnt just me. So this wasnt technically a hiring requirement, but more... A lot of candidates are very stiff and nervous in the interview. Even in the mock interviews I did for Look Over My Shoulder, I could tell some people were very nervous. He was miserable in my interview and clearly not enjoying himself....
