Sherlock Holmes books worthy of their canonical inspiration
He's known to readers as the "world's foremost consulting detective," but to Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes was a pain in his literary ego, so much that in 1893 Conan Doyle sent Holmes to his death over the Reichenbach Falls. Two recent books, "A Study in Sherlock" (Bantam Books, $15), a collection of short stories edited by Laurie R. King and Leslie S. Klinger, and Anthony Horowitz's "The House of Silk" (Mulholland Books, $27. One of my favorites was "The Mysterious Case of The Unwritten Short Story" by "Sticky" Cotterill (aka Collin), a funny illustrated tale confusing Laurie King with Larry King and a narrator who knows nothing about Holmes. The splash was heard round the world, eventually forcing Conan Doyle to return Holmes to Baker Street.Olathe woman first COO of Hooper Holmes - KansasCity.com

WHC MGMT Class- Methods of Leadership: Example 1
For example, if an employee fails to meet their minimum job requirements and they are disciplined, this reinforces policies and teaches the consequences for this type of behavior. This sounds a bit harsh but, if a person learns that certain behaviors cause certain consequences, they tend to either do more or less of that action based on the consequence. Leaders rely on the idea that people often learn what is right or wrong based on the perceived consequences of their actions. Thus, behavior can be modified and somewhat controlled with the ideas of punishment and reward. The Leader must intercede (directly or indirectly) and give direction as to how to change their behavior. They react to the consequence and change their behavior accordingly....
