Latest Microsoft Surface display ready for preorder
Microsoft and Samsung are starting to take preorders for the latest version of the Microsoft Surface touchscreen display. Microsoft announced the display in January 2011 at the Consumer Electronics Show, but Samsung pushed off shipments until January 2012. While the first Surface was a bulky table, Microsoft designed the second generation of the display to be a flatscreen. You can also combine it with Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing system for the Xbox 360 if you want to control it with gestures rather than touch. The Surface technology is cool because it looks and works like a sci-fi display. The new multitouch tabletop screen will be known as the Samsung SUR40 Surface 2. The new Surface system is available in 23 countries for preorder. The system is designed so that multiple people can use the screen at the same time.Starting Microsoft - Bookshelf

Microsoft Starting to Get Web development?
DreamWeaver blew it out of the water in the next few years and it's taken Microsoft a few years to build Visual Studio into the amazing piece of software that it is. But even 6 or 7 years ago there was great web development software around. Of course confusingly they also have the free Microsoft® Visual Web Developer® 2010 Express but that includes SQL Server Express, Silverlight Tools, IIS and ASP. Anyway Microsoft has entered the free website designer space with WebMatrix that includes IIS Express (a development web server), ASP. That's a bit unfair as they've come a long way since Microsoft FrontPage. Lindows aka Winspire developed Nvu which is still ongoing as a cross-platform open source web development tool though it appears to be a fork of Kompozer. It's from an era around 1998-99 when the web was taking off, where web designers didn't really use CSS too much as it was still new. After I learnt html, it was my first web development tool....
